Match Preview

The Finnish national team will fight against the Belgian national team on matchday 3 of Group B Euro 2020 at the Krestovsky Stadium, Tuesday (22/6/2021). Although Belgium has already qualified, it is again important for them to ensure the status of group winners.

Currently, Finland is in third place, losing head-to-head to Russia. Meanwhile, the Red Devils, nicknamed the Belgian national team, have definitely escaped thanks to two bagged wins.

Finland (3 points) will qualify if they win, or if they draw and Russia (3 points) loses to Denmark (0 points). On the other hand, a draw alone is enough to make Belgium (6 points) finish at the top of the rankings.

On matchday 1, Finland beat Denmark 1-0 through Joel Pohjanpalo's historic goal, but then lost 0-1 to Russia on matchday 2.

Meanwhile, on matchday 1, Belgium defeated Russia 3-0 through goals by Romelu Lukaku (2) and Thomas Meunier. After that, Belgium won a 2-1 comeback win over Denmark. In that match, substitute Kevin De Bruyne set up the assist for Thorgan Hazard's equalizer, then netted the winner for Belgium.

Finland is unbeaten in their last seven meetings with the Belgian national team (W4 D3 L0); the most recent was in 2016. However, looking at the difference in squad quality and performance, Finland's good record against Belgium is likely to be broken.
