Match Preview

The Czech Republic national team will face Denmark in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, Saturday (3/7/2021). This match will be held at the Olympic Stadium, Baku, and is a meeting of two teams with the title of a dark horse.

In the round of 16, the Czech Republic national team beat the Netherlands 2-0 through goals from Tomas Holes and Patrik Schick. The goal against the Netherlands was Schick's 4th goal at Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, the Danish national team beat Wales 4-0. Kasper Dolberg scored two goals, while Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite each contributed one goal.

The Czech Republic and Denmark have previously met twice in the Euro finals, in the 2000 and 2004 editions. The Czech Republic won both, scoring a total of five goals without conceding.

In the Euro 2000 group stage, the Czech Republic beat Denmark 2-0 through a pair of goals from Vladimir Smicer in the 64th and 67th minutes.

At Euro 2004, just like now, the Czech Republic and Denmark met in the quarter-finals. The Czechs won 3-0 through a goal from Jan Koller in the 49th minute, and two goals from Milan Baros in the 63rd and 65th minutes.

Their next meeting will be a repeat of the 2004 quarter-finals. This time, who will come out victorious, and face Ukraine or England in the semifinals?
