Match Preview

The Ukrainian national team who went far in Euro 2020 received a tough challenge by facing England in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 which was held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Sunday (4/7/2021) midnight IST. This match will determine who gets tickets to the semifinals of the European Cup this time.

Ukraine has indeed gone through a tortuous journey at Euro 2020. However, Andriy Shevchenko's team was lucky enough to be able to move up to now in the quarter-finals.

Ukraine started Euro 2020 with a 2-3 defeat to the Netherlands, then won 2-1 over North Macedonia, and then lost 0-1 to Austria in Group C. Luckily, Ukraine became the team who finished fourth in the small standings of the best three, which they managed to stay through to the last 16.

Facing Sweden in the round of 16, Ukraine was surprisingly able to win 2-1 despite the extra time. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Artem Dovbyk became the heroes of the success of Shevchenko's team to advance to the last eight.

Ukraine will face England in the quarter-finals. England is a team that cannot be underestimated by Ukraine. The Three Lions stepped up to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 with a record that they have not conceded a single goal.

In the group stage, Gareth Southgate's side won 1-0 over Croatia, played out a goalless draw with Scotland, and closed the group stage with a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic. While in the last 16, England was able to prove their quality deserved to go far through a 2-0 victory over Germany.

However, England does have its own advantage in undergoing four matches at Euro 2020 so far. All matches were held at Wembley, London. Now facing Ukraine, The Three Lions must fly to the Stadio Olimpico, Rome.

From the records of the two teams' meetings, Ukraine and England have only met once in the Euro finals, namely in the group phase of Euro 2012. At that time England won 1-0 through Wayne Rooney's single goal. How was the meeting at Euro 2020 this time?
